 Meet Jeff

Jeff Galloway finished second in the 10,000 meter run at the 1972 U.S. Olympic Trials, then deliberately went from third to fourth place in that year's marathon trial to allow teammate Jack Bacheler to make the Olympic Team. He's run 119 marathons with a best of 2:16.  Today, he lives outside of Atlanta, runs about sixty miles a week, but no longer races seriously.

For the past twenty-five years, Galloway has trained ordinary people to run marathons. His program, which revolves around a progressively longer weekend run done with walk breaks, very low overall mileage, and walk breaks taken during marathon races, has drawn criticism from some competitive runners.  However, after having trained over 150,000 runners, the evidence suggests that his techniques are worthwhile.

Galloway owns a store for runners called Phidippides and is the author of top selling running books in North America, Galloway's Book on Running and Marathon You Can Do It!.  He is also a special contributor for Runner's World magazine and serves as an inspirational speaker to over 200 running and fitness sessions each year.  Finally, he played an instrumental role in the establishment of the Breast Cancer Marathon held in Jacksonsville, Florida.
